Museum activities

Sunday at the museum

Every first Sunday of the month, the museum is open free of charge, and offers guided tours in French of the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.

Free admission and activities for all. Booking advised for the guided tours in French at 2.30 pm and 4 pm.

 

Educational workshops

On Wednesday afternoons, during school holidays, children aged 7 to 11 take inspiration from the collections and temporary exhibitions to make their own personal creations like real budding artists.

Price: €5 (includes museum tour and workshop in French).

Booking required. Length: 2h.

 

Lace-making demonstrations

The lace-makers from the National Conservatory Workshop for Alençon Lace reveal the secrets of their field of excellence by giving demonstrations at the museum. They will be there 3 afternoons a week in the summer for individual visitors.

Meetings can also be booked for adult or school groups on a guided tour of the museum, as long as the lace-makers are available.

 
  • In the summer : no supplement on top of the admission fee for individuals.

Full price €4. Reduced price €3. Free for people under 26 years old.

  • From october to June : Guided tour (minimum 10 people) : €6 per person (reduced price: €5), school group : free.
 

 

Introduction to lace for young people

The museum and the Mobilier National invite teenagers aged 12 to 18 to try their hand at making Alençon Lace.

A great activity for lace enthusiasts!

The museum will provide participants with all the equipment needed for the workshop.

Workshops of 2 hours available 2 Wednesdays a month (except in the school holidays).

Price: €5 per workshop.

Museum by night

Once every three months, the museum is open from 6 pm to 10 pm and invites you to discover the collections in a new light, during an evening full of surprises.

Free admission and activities for all. Booking advised.

 

An alternative view

The Museum of Fine Arts and Lace offers guided tours in French for deaf people with the help of a sign language interpreter.

European Artistic Craft Days

Operation coordinated by the French National Institute of Artistic Trades and in partnership with the French Chambers of Trades and Crafts.

At this event, (re)discover the fabulous skills involved in making Alençon Lace and meet the lace-makers from the Mobilier National, who give demonstrations at the museum.

No supplement on top of the admission fee. Full price €4.10. Reduced price €3.05. Free for people under 26 years old.
